Deep Dive
Commercial makeup removers often layer solvents, fragrance, preservatives, and silicones. The skin around the eyes absorbs fast, so each input matters.
This swap rebuilds the function with a low-load blend that lifts pigments, melts oils, and supports barrier recovery without unnecessary stacks.
Most makeup removers rely on:
• Synthetic emulsifiers
• Added fragrance
• Silicones for slip
• Harsh preservatives for shelf stability
This input swap replaces those with three core functions: lift, dissolve, and neutralize.
What You’ll Need
1. Base Oil (Primary Pigment Lifter)
Choose one:
• Organic Sweet Almond Oil
• Organic Jojoba Oil
• Organic Fractionated Coconut Oil
All three are stable, mild, and effective carriers.
No fragrance, no fillers, no silicone blends.
Usage: 1–2 tbsp in your batch.
2. Castor Oil (Binder + Lash Support)
Castor binds pigments and supports lash health.
Usage: 1 tsp in your batch.
3. Witch Hazel Without Alcohol (Optional Astringent)
Only use alcohol-free witch hazel.
Alcohol versions will strip the skin.
Usage: 1 tsp if you want a bi-phase effect.
4. Vitamin E (Natural Preservative Booster)
Use mixed tocopherols, not synthetic DL-tocopherol.
Usage: 2–3 drops.
How to Mix
1. Add all oils into a glass bottle.
2. Shake gently to combine.
3. If adding alcohol-free witch hazel, expect a bi-phase mix that must be shaken before each use.
4. Store in glass, not plastic, to avoid leaching and oxidation.
How to Use
1. Apply a small amount to a cotton pad or fingertips.
2. Hold on the eye area for 5–10 seconds to dissolve pigments.
3. Wipe gently.
4. Finish with a warm water rinse and your usual cleanser.
Storage Guidance
• Keep sealed and out of direct sunlight.
• Shelf life: ~6 months if stored in glass and kept dry.
• If the scent shifts noticeably, remake.
